Experience full immersive virtual reality at Bjork Digital

Icelandic icon Bjork has always been an immersive innovator. She recorded her first album when she was just 11 years old. During her teens, she was in numerous bands, with styles from jazz-fusion to goth. Mastering various musical instruments, she has even created her own. You may be aware of her past as the singer of avantpop band The Sugarcubes. However, it is as a solo artist that she has really made her mark, successfully collaborating with many prominent artists.

Collaboration equals success

Bjork has worked with many influential musicians and producers such as Thom Yorke, Tricky, and Nellie Hopper. She has continually pushed boundaries on her video work with filmmakers Michel Gondry, Chris Cunningham and Spike Jonze. An accomplished actor, Bjorks outstanding performance in Lars Von Triers’ ‘Dancer in the Dark’ won her the 2000 Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress.

She has even worked with Sir David Attenborough in Channel Four’s Mad4Music season of programmes. It is the latest collaborative work with visual artists and programmers for her Bjork Digital exhibition that we at Giggle are most excited.

Showcasing virtual reality projects such as StoneMilker VR by Andrew Thomas Huang. A project transporting the viewer to a private performance of the opening track of the Vulnicura album, a 360-degree one-to-one recital on a windswept Icelandic beach. Mouthmantra VR, an intense and unique take on the penultimate track, where director Jesse Kanda captures footage seen from the inside her mouth as she sings the track.
