Cast your minds back to a better time. Brexit was but a glint in the eye of Boris and David; Donald Trump certainly wasn’t the Republican candidate. We were embarking on our latest exciting project. British Airways and Chase Bank had teamed up with Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge to create a British menu to “Bring Britain Closer” to the USA. We were charged with creating an immersive dining experience to bring the sights and sounds of the areas of Britain that each course was from.
Like us, are you distraught at having to wait a whole year for the next season of Game of Thrones? We thought so. Consequently, we decided to showcase a little added extra from our work over the last 3 years with Sky. Game of Thrones Season 4 – UK Premiere
On Wednesday night we unleashed Daenerys’ Targaryen’s dragons into the heart of London, unveiling our animated projections onto the moat wall of the prestigious Tower of London for for the highly anticipated Game of Thrones season 5 world premiere.
After producing pre-visualisation for the Sky Events team in the Giggle studio we set about creating the spectacular with 3 weeks animation time and more than a couple long days and late nights. Our talented and hardworking team pulled out all the stops to make it an extraordinary event, while the animation was brought to life with incredible sound design (courtesy of SNK Studios) using the original sounds (“We’ve got the real dragon noises!”) from the show by Paula Fairfield.
The dragons greeted the cast, VIPs, guests and press as they acted as a fiery backdrop to the red carpet, flying the length of the Tower of London before setting the Game of Thrones logo alight. Almost 40 of the cast attended the event, the first Game of Thrones premiere held in Europe, so we snuck in some star gazingstar stalkingswooning acting talent appreciating in between dragon babysitting.
We are so pleased to have been asked to have been a part of this fantastic event and fulfilled a long standing dream to project onto the Tower of London. There was a lot of great coverage on the event and it was a pleasure to work with the brilliant Sky Events team again (check out the projection work we did for the Game of Thrones season 4 premiere here).
